Prof. Hajime Asama

Hajime Asama received his B. S., M. S., and Dr. Eng in Engineering from the University of Tokyo, in 1982, 1984 and 1989, respectively. He worked at RIKEN (Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) in Japan from 1986 to 2002 as a research scientist, etc. He became a professor of RACE (Research into Artifacts, Center for Engineering) of the University of Tokyo in 2002, and a professor of School of Engineering of the University of Tokyo since 2009. He received RSJ (Robotics Society of Japan) Distinguished Service Award in 2013, JSME (The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) Robotics and Mechatronics Award in 2009, etc.
He was the vice-president of RSJ in 2011-2012, an AdCom member of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society in 2007-2009. Currently, he is the president-elect of IFAC since 2017, the president of International Society for Intelligent Autonomous Systems since 2014, and an associate editor of Control Engineering Practice, Journal of Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and Journal of Field Robotics, etc. He is a member of Science Council of Japan from 2014 to 2017, and a council member since 2017. He is a Fellow of IEEE, JSME and RSJ.

Prof. Tu Shandong

Professor of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology. He received B.Sc degree in 1982 and Ph.D degree in 1988 from Nanjing University of Technology.

Driven by the safety concern of the process and energy equipment, Professor Tu has been searching for knowledge of temperature effect on failure of materials, structures and processes, which includes time-dependent fracture mechanics, creep and fatigue and structural integrity in general in relation to high temperature applications. He is an author of more than 300 papers and received a number of distinguished awards, including China National Science and Technology Progress Award, National Teaching Achievement Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award, ASME Best Paper Award and so on. He is currently an honorary professor of the University of Nottingham. And he has been the honorary president of Chinese Pressure Vessel Institution (since 2010) and the honorary president of Chinese Materials Institution (since 2015) of China Mechanical Engineering Society, Chairman of China Structural Integrity Consortium, Chairman of Asian Oceanic Regional Committee of International Council for Pressure Vessel Technology, a member of reliability committee of IFToMM and so on. He is also serving a number of journals as an associate editor or editorial board member, including Int J Pres Ves and Piping, J Applied Energy, J of Materials Science and Technology, Fatigue and Fracture of Engineering Materials and Structures, Frontier of Mechanical Engineering, Advances in Mechanical Engineering and so on.

Prof. Yoon Young Kim

Y.Y. Kim, who received Ph. D from Stanford University, joined Seoul National University in 1991. His main research area is mechanics-based design and optimization. He led for 9 years a National Creative Research Initiatives Center, a research center designated by the Korean government to promote his researches. He also served as the director of the Advanced Automobile Research Center and the Institute of Advanced Machines and Design at Seoul National University, and the president of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineer. He is a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology and the National Academy of Engineers of Korea. Currently, he is the president of the Korean Society for Computational Mechanics, a co-president of the Asian Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, and a vice-president of the World Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization. His research has been recognized by many awards including recent ones, Seoul National University Award for Academic Excellence (2017), KSCM (Korean Society for Computational Mechanics Computational Mechanics) Award (2017), APACM (Asian-Pacific Association for Computational Mechanics) Award for Computational Mechanics (2016), and ASSMO (Asian Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization) Award (2016).

JMST

Selected papers presented at ETME 2018 (Emerging Technologies in Mechanical Engineering 2018) will be invited to submit for the publication in a special section of JMST (Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology; Impact Factor 1.128), the international journal of KSME. The papers will be reviewed according to the standard editorial review procedures of JMST. The review is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018.

Prof. Shuji Tanaka

Shuji Tanaka received B.E., M.E. and Dr.E. degrees in mechanical engineering from The University of Tokyo in 1994, 1996 and 1999, respectively. He was Research Associate at Department of Mechatronics and Precision Engineering, Tohoku University from 1999 to 2001, Assistant Professor from 2001 to 2003, and Associate Professor at Department of Nanomechanics from 2003 to 2013. He is currently Professor at Department of Robotics and Microsystem Integration Center. He was also Fellow of Center for Research and Development Strategy, Japan Science and Technology Agency from 2004 to 2006, and Selected Fellow from 2006 to 2018. In FY2017, he serves as President of Micro-Nano Science & Engineering Division, Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME). He was honored with many awards and prizes including The Young Scientists’ Prize, The Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (2009), German Innovation Award and Gottfried Wagener Prize (2012). His research interests include MEMS and acoustic wave devices. He is an IEEE Fellow and a JSME Fellow.

Prof. Shinji Deguchi

Biography:
Dr. Deguchi is currently a Professor at Department of Mechanical Science and Bioengineering, Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University. Before this position, he originally got his PhD from Tohoku University in 2004, and since then he has been working on cellular and molecular biomechanics and bioengineering at Okayama University, Tohoku University, and Nagoya Institute of Technology, and since April of 2016 at Osaka University as well. He received many honors and awards including JSME Young Engineers Award (2006) and Seguchi Award (Bioengineering Division of JSME).

Dr. Chang Woo Lee

Changwoo Lee, Ph.D., has been a director of Metal 3D Printing Convergence Research Team since 2015 and a principal researcher at KIMM since 2008 with design of ultra precision machines and systems for semiconductor.
 
Prior to joining KIMM, Lee was a director for Insstek that has produced metal 3D printer. During his 2 years at Insstek, Lee spent time producing metal 3D printer and printing service. Lee was a manger for Futureedu that made computer education device for infants. And Lee was a senior researcher for Samsung Electronics. Lee had researched about CD Rom, inkjet printer and displacement sensor in Samsung Electronics for 3 years
 
Lee received Ph.D.(1992-1997) and M.S.(1990-1992) in mechanical engineering from KAIST, Dadjeon, Korea and B.S.(1986-1990) in precision mechanical engineering from Hanyang university, Seoul, Korea.

Prof. Li Peigen

Li Peigen was born on December, 1948 in Wuhan, Hubei province,China. From 1978 to 1981, he had been studying in Huazhong Institute of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and HUST for short) where he obtained his Master’s Degree. From 1983 to 1987, he studied in University of Wisconsin-Madison, and got his Ph.D degree in 1987. After graduation, he went back to Huazhong Institute of Technology, began his teaching career there and became a professor in 1991. From March 2005 to March 2014, he served as the President of HUST.
 
In 2003 he was elected as the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE).
 
Currently, he is the Chairman of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society(CMES)
